Established in March 1992, Fenech Brahman Cattle Co. (FBC) has strived
to produce quality sires for the Australian seed stock market. Family
oriented, the company has strengthened and promotes quality internationally
acclaimed genetics.
The initial impetus
for the company was the purchase and importation of JDH Elefante
R Manso 272/8(imp US) in 1991, selected by the family at six
months of age as an exciting prepotent sire prospect. Elefante
soon lived up to and surpassed the family’s expectations,
becoming one of the most influential Brahman sires in Australia
and setting a $105 000 Australian auction record when sold at
Rockhampton in September 1995. |

Prior to Elefante’s importation,
the Fenechs had commenced embryoing and breeding quality stud stock
for the Australian market. Early imported females such as JDH Jewel
Manso 954/8 (imp US), JDH Miss Jess Manso 108/9 (imp US) and JDH Lady
Manso 969 established a line of consistent growthy beef type Brahmans
bred for Australian conditions.
In the early days, FBC was based at Sarina
and invested heavily in Hudgins genetics, renown throughout the world
for their beef production and uniformity. FBC's policy is to buy only
the best bloodlines and genetics available that will be proven in the
long term and this is evidenced in the prices achieved by the company
at Brahman Industry Sales.
The company conducted their own sales
“The Brahman Beef Challenge of Australia” in 1994, 1995
& 1996 with invited vendors. These sales firmly established the
Company’s reputation within the industry, as quality breeders
who research relentlessly here and in America for superior bloodlines
that consistently perform at the top level.
The company supports Rockhampton Brahman Week and has had considerable
success, gaining top price for the grey bull in 1997 plus four
consecutive years highest overall draft averages. The company
also supported the Townsville Brahman Sale and has achieved
with distinction at the Charters Towers Big Country Sale.
The company ventured into unknown territory in October 1998
with an Australian first ever “Designer Genes” First
National Release Sale, offering 30 embryos at the Sheraton Hotel
and Casino Townsville. The sale was a success with total clearance
of 30 lots for $142 250, with an average of $4 742.

November 2000 saw another first for the
company, being an invited vendor to the Wilangi Beef Brahman Invitation
Sale in Charters Towers. The sale is promoted as the “Greatest
Line up of Quality Grey Brahmans in Australia.” And the Fenechs
participated in the overall success of the sale, achieving $30 000 and
$21 000 for quality sires.
In 2001 FBC broke the Charters Towers
Big Country Sale record of $35 000 from the sale of FBC Sir Dawson Manso.
At the 2002 Wilangi Invitational sale
FBC achieved another Record breaking price of $50 000, and in 2003 the
sale equalling the Australian breed record of $32 500 for an unjoined
Brahman Female.
The company operates extensive breeding
programs and sees embryoing as an msjor part of the stud's operation’s
and future marketing, allowing the rapid production of high quality
genetics, valuable to all Brahman Breeders. Embryo programs are conducted
at "Craigleigh", Wowan, and at “The Chase”, Sarina.
