In 1992 the Fenech family founded; Fenech Brahman Cattle Company and introduced a Sire to Australia that would significantly shape the Australian Brahman Breeding over the next 10 years.

The following story tells of how the family introduced JDH Elefante R Manso 272/9 (Imp) to Australian Brahman Breeders in 1992.

Originally members of the Fenech Family went to the United States with the purpose of acquiring females to further boost the superior Hudgins females they had imported in previous years.

Upon sight of a tremendous bull (member of show team) at the J.D. Hudgins Show Barn Complex, the Fenechs knew this was the “Bull of the Future”, thus females were entirely forgotten.

First negotiations with Mark Forgason on purchasing the bull were met with rejection, but Mark would release some semen. At this stage the Fenech family was obsessed that this bull had to come to Australia.

Further negotiations were entered into although Hudgins were reluctant; the bull was purchased for the highest price ever sold by Hudgins to Australia. J.D. Hudgins retain semen rights.

Back in Australia, Fenech Family members (Joe & Doris Fenech, Tony & Joanne Fenech, Paul Fenech, Christine Fenech and Emanuel Mifsud, eldest grandson of Joe & Doris) formed the Fenech Brahman Cattle Company to syndicate the bull.

The bull was named JDH Elefante R Manso 272/9 and took up residence at Ormiston Export Centre so the Company could honour their purchase and send semen back to Hudgins.

Elefante’s pedigree is first class with 5 Register of Renowns on the side and 2 on the dams.

He displays tremendous length, stands on great bone, will be a very big Hudgins bull with outstanding muscling, structurally sound and has an extremely good sirey outlook.

3 Years Later Elefante R Manso was sold at the Gracemere sale yards Breaking an Australian Record of $105 000 proudly purchased by Les and Olive Smith of Delta Grove, Baralaba.
